#17 Vet in Birmingham, West Midlands
James Horner Vets – Sheldon describes itself as an independent practice and is listed as a Veterinary Nurse Training facility. Based on owner reports, it appears set up for both routine consults and more involved case management: reviews mention support through a dog’s cruciate ligament surgery recovery over several months and dental treatment for cats including extractions. The practice states that out-of-hours emergencies are handled via Willows Veterinary Centre.
Recent feedback is mixed in a specific way: some owners say appointments feel unrushed and listened to, while others allege unexpected/“hidden” costs and pressure to buy add-ons or sign up to a subscription/monthly payment plan.

We have being using James Horner vets for about 2 years now. Every member of staff is professional and we are always given plenty of time at appointments, always feeling that we are listened too and never rushed. The staff are caring and have been very supportive during our dogs cruciate ligament surgery recovery which lasted for 4 months. I would highly recommend James Horner and his team.

MONEY MAKING VET! Emma Kemish is the best one there! However, this vet company is a money making company and will sell you things that you don’t need. The prices don’t add up and they have hidden costs. Please don’t take out the subscription, its futile and void. All they care about is money. We have been ripped off.

MONEY MAKING VETS- AVOID AVOID AVOID! POOR TREATMENT DO NOT take your pets to this vets. To save your money if your pet becomes sick - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. you will incur a hefty price- MONEY is PRIORITY over the welfare and health of the animal. Take your pet to a better veterinary practise- do your research and READ EVERY SINGLE REVIEW. Upon recommendation i brought my cat here to have dental treatment including extractions. My cat came home sitting in his own faeces- whilst he was in their care nobody made an effort to check on him. My cat became very poorly after the treatment, he developed a high temperature, lethargy, weakness, refusal to eat or drink and just slept ALOT. He was in SO much pain. On the day of the check-up they failed to notice what could be wrong with him and why he was in so much pain. The Owner James Horner suggested we put him on IV drip for 2 days- and then a feeding tube but that would not have identified the cause of his pain. The first day he was put on IV drip, the 2nd day i did not return back because i was told he is a greedy vet who is into making money rather than put priority over the animals health. I went to my local vet and upon inspection they said a fragment of tooth must have been left in his mouth causing the pain. My cat underwent surgery again to have it removed. and was given an appetite stimulant to get him eating. WHEREAS James Horner wanted iv fluids for 2 WHOLE DAYS and stick a feeding tube down him when it WASNT NEEDED. This would have caused my cat extreme anxiety when he already suffers with it. Why wasnt an x ray done to find out the cause of my cats pain? My local vets do an x ray after the treatment, James Horner vets dont do this. So i would NOT recommend taking your pet here. I have also been told that James Horner told someone that he DOES NOT CARE ABOUT FERAL CATS. If you become a vet shouldnt you care about all animals??? Also one of the vets accidentally killed a cat because she overdosed him. LACK OF EXPERIENCE AND NEGLIGENCE. AVOID this vets to save your pet and save your money.
